Stage 1 vs Stage 2 — what’s the difference?

Stock hardware vs extra parts: when Stage 1 is enough and when Stage 2 makes sense — plus notes on registration and the configurator.

Stage 1 — map on stock hardware

Stage 1 retunes the ECU map without forcing hardware swaps. Typical result: stronger mid-range torque and a bit more peak power, still on stock intake/turbo/exhaust.

Best when the car must stay daily-usable. Guide figures and from-prices appear in the configurator for your exact model.

Stage 2 — when the hardware can flow

Stage 2 usually needs freer hardware (often downpipe, intercooler, intake). Software can then run higher boost and flow — more power, more calibration work, and often road-registration questions.

Without matching hardware, “Stage 2 software” rarely delivers and can stress components. We advise honestly for your setup.

Legal note

On-road power upgrades in Germany generally need a component approval / registration. Export and motorsport use are clarified in writing before the job.
